It's well known that the demand for hiring has been slow, although picking up, but now job hunters face the problem of the alarming level of noise while out on the job search trail. Noise you say, what noise? Simply put - not all job openings are created equal. In fact, many job openings are found to not even be real positions but instead fake! It's true, ask any job seeker that's been on the boards for six months are longer. The real jobs are few and far between. So what about all the job listings posted on the "Big Boards"? Well some are good but unfortunately a few are not so good. The first problem with the NG (not good) postings is that they are stale. Who knows when that position was really posted? Moreover, many times the owner of the posting will perform minor updates to a given open position which will trigger a date change which makes the posting appear as if new. Sorry, it's not new. The second problem is how do you know if the job listing is still even open? You don't know - just because it's listed on the "job board of the day" doesn't mean the job is actually still open. If that isn't enough, how do you know how many job applicants have submitted their resume ahead of you? Sorry, you don't know.

These problems that job seekers face with finding solid leads via job boards is likely to remain high until significant consistent hiring kicks into high gear. So if hiring is the solution and questionable job openings are the issue, how do job seekers find their way? Well, love it or hate, social networking is big time and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. With real time job search, job hunters plug into the social sphere in real time and connect with real people. This social networking job search strategy provides the highest probability of success without waiting months and months to "bump into" the right opportunity. So although job hunters are facing alarming levels of noise on the job search trail, other options exist - such as real time job search. After all, being well connected is the difference between winners and whiners and being well connected is about your network - social network. Surprised
