chicage gives lose part job or all job ultimatum

by Blog Boss 1. July 2009 21:10

The bout between Chicage city government and its employees meets center stage in the city of Chicago. Mayor Daley of Chicago, citing a massive budget deficit, is basically stiff arming the local unions into a 2 year contract with excessive unpaid furlough days and having paid holidays converted to unpaid holidays. So basically, the city is saying no more Thanksgiving and Christmas on us. Of course not to mention the two dozen or more unpaid furlough days. As the mid July deadline, for the unions, presses on, the options are massive layoffs or a two year contract which amounts to a city slick backdoor pay cut. In essence, its forcing a "part of your job" loss via furloughs or invite mass layoffs. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. Sealed
