Jobs |

Well who doesn't need a job right? Ok, maybe the 1% earners aren't worried about a job so much, but why in the world are US war veterans in such dire financial straits? Like, haven't Vets paid a huge debt to society--100 fold and then some? Really, this is kind of pathetic that we ask soldiers to fight for Lady Liberty abroad, then surviving Vets come home and have to fight for day to day economic survival. Where is the honor in that, where is the homage?
From a business standpoint, sure companies need qualified workers to sell products and services. Got it...but wait, what happened to the cash from the $700 Billion Bank Bailout? Wasn't some of that cash set aside to retool and retrain displaced workers? Why in the world wouldn't Vets get priority access to those funds and services? It just seems like that goes without saying. Apparently not, as Congress is squabbling over a few measly billion (in comparison to the Bank Bailouts) for Vet job placement programs. Talk about losing site of patriotism...get it together people.
On this Veterans Day, let us celebrate the past contributions of US war Veterans but also let us contribute to the current and future economic well being of our Veterans. After all, the surpluses corporations sit on, made through commerce in The Land of The Free were made possible by Vets defending and securing this Great Land. Isn't that worthy of respect? Do whatever it takes to get Vets on the job. After all, Vets need jobs too. Happy Veterans Day!
