The air waves are flooded with the news of Osama out of the picture but what does Osama being out of the way have to do with job markets? If you're waiting for the job markets to head north you may still be waiting for a bit. Only a day after the Osama news, the NYC markets seemed unmoved and actually dipped, even though just a few points. Who cares about Wall Street anyway? Well love em' or hate em' Wall Street tends to set the tone for investments and spending. Investments and spending of course translates to nothing other than hiring and new jobs. So since Wall Street doesn't seem to give a hoot about the country being a little safer with Osama out of the way don't expect to get a warm fuzzy from the Wall Street big wigs.

So what can we make of the Osama demise? Well if nothing else it makes for good symbolism. On the other hand, considering the financial budget mess in Washington and Osama being out of the way, that may actually tend to hurt jobs - at least in the military. A safer country means no need for such a massive military budget right? Expect that to be the GOP gift to finest military on the planet - military spending and job cuts. So much for the military being this place of guaranteed financial security; perhaps in the past but no so much these days. The irony to the pink slips, certain to be passed out throughout the ranks of military, is that the same individuals that increased the spending to today's level are the same individuals complaining of military spending. Don't you just love politicians? Hummmh, not a peep...So the affect of Osama's demise on the US economy and job markets remains to be seen. Despite the few that are profiting from a depressed economy the rest of us would love to see a pickup in the markets, then again the DOW is already above 12,000 points - at least for now. Well even If Wall Street doesn't care, the rest of do. Thanks to the US military for your tireless efforts defending our land. Cool
