In the not so distant past, for those looking for new employment opportunities it was "...go south young man..." Now, it seems like jobseekers, entrepreneurs, and even large corps are changing that slogan to "...go south young man..." So much for the Golden State huh. So what’s driving employment opportunity seekers to head south? Well for one thing, job growth. If the jobs head south, so too will the people. What about businesses, why would a business from the North or West go south, knowing the history of the south? One word -- taxes. Even better -- three words - "dirt cheap taxes." For business owners, entrepreneurs and large corps the huge reduction in taxes adds up to millions in savings. Think about it...why else would anyone want to live in Alabama versus say New York or California? Bottom line is cheap taxes for business means jobs growth in the south -- especially in Alabama and Georgia. The flip side [there's always a but] is that such a move may not be so good for job hunters, who often have to trade in certain rights found in more progressive states such as New York or California, to have a job in the south. Oh well, guess that's an individual decision...maybe a job with no rights in the south is better than no job in New York with rights.

It is no surprise that Yahoo has been struggling for several years in the search business. On the other hand laying off 2000 workers is another thing. Few if any of the 2000 job cuts will be recalled following a "restructuring" effort. Calling the cuts layoffs is just a fancy word for job eliminations. It really is a sad day for both Yahoo and the soon to be former employees. What's the big deal about Yahoo falling? Well for starters, Yahoo pioneered web based email for everyone, global web search and find whatever, one stop shop information portal and let us not forget about Yahoo Hotjobs. Hotjobs was once the premier place for finding a job online. Hotjobs has since been absorbed by Monster, which was pretty much a death sentence for online job seekers. Job search and any search for that matter just isn't the same anymore. The irony here is that Google was once a second league back up bench player to Yahoo and actually provided search results for Yahoo. Now look at Yahoo. Indeed, it was a bad decision to walk about from the Microsoft buyout offer a while back but now what? What will laying off (eliminating) 2000 jobs achieve? What does a Yahoo restructuring plan look like? or is this the beginning of the last days of Yahoo?

Sounds like a dream come true, huh...to quit the job you love to hate an become an entrepreneur. Maybe your passion is photography, graphic design, antique/specialty cars(Xzibit's you know pimp my ride), boutique ownership, real estate brokerage or whatever. What's the key to making that happen? Well it sure isn't cash...oh no, you don't need cash. Who needs cash when you have Obamacare. Let Pelosi tell it, Obamacare paves the way to entrepreneurialism. After all how can you become an entrepreneur if you don't have health care and get sick in the middle of your dream project. You know what happens...the debt man cometh and taketh everything you have and assigns any remaining debt to your young ones. Who cares, if your kids are 5 and 6 years old...the parents got sick on the job and owes the debt man. Sounds absurd but it definitely can happen...and has happened before. That's why the Supreme Court needs to hear this matter, right?
Like it our not the Supreme Court is going to make a decision that will affect your current job (if you're lucky to have a job) or perhaps influence your entrepreneurial dreams in the future. Affordable health care may be an important issue for job growth and small business (from different angles) but it's hard to explain why the Supreme Court needs to hear this matter when the number one reason for failed startups is --- lack of funding. While the Supreme Court is at it --- why not look at how the lack of funding hampers entrepreneurialism, since Pelosi and others have tied entrepreneurialism to the health care mandate debate.

Some say the job market is healing, while others think the job market is struggling. One thing is true -- the current job market trend is good for some and bad for others. If you're in one of the industries like Information Technology (IT), you could very well be one of the winners. Why? The lack of hiring from the unemployment pool is signaling that IT employers are having a hard time finding good help within the huge pool of unemployed -- well over 12 million plus unemployed. You know what that means. Supply and demand kicks in buddy. A low supply of experienced labor in the IT job market in conjunction with rising demand for IT services means wages in the IT job market will continue to rise. Good news for the geeks huh. What about the rest of us?...well i guess there is always "door #2" or "door #3" -- keep hope alive.
