For those of you hanging out on the sidelines waiting for the next goose to lay the golden economic egg, well you might be waiting a while but guess what? Austin is still a great place for making that much career move. Chances are if you're looking at out of state employment options and you currently reside in the southeast than Austin would be a good choice.

Why Austin? Well for one isn't that the great state of Texas, home of no state income tax? That's reason enough, need I continue? Ok maybe you want a little more. How about the fact that Austin is a great place to live? From surfing to arts to education...the presence of the University of Texas, the Moonlight towers and Dell Computers sure doesn't hurt. Incidentally Dell is one of the largest, if not the largest employers in the Austin area, Round Rock to be specific.

The City of Austin is actually a large employer and incidentally has quite a few job openings as we (you) read. Perhaps equally as important as the economic growth for the area is the fact that homes are actually affordable, with a capital "A". I'm sure the people on the West Coast or North East Coast can appreciate affordable housing, since a cool million bucks doesn't get you much house on either the West or North East Coast. Maybe that's one of the reasons Austin and much of Texas is experiencing a massive influx of new residents from California and New York. So if you're job, city/town or both is a little lackluster, it's time to find that shine again, in which case Austin is still a great place to consider for a career move. Are your bags packed yet? Cool
