stimulus favors construction jobs

As the economic stimulus plan is kicking into high gear, many are wondering where is the cash going and is it really working. Well if you ask  D'Ambra Construction, the likely response it that it is working just fine. Such a response is likely contributed to the 2.5 million Department of Transportation contract won by the local Rhode Island construction company. D'Ambra which cut 75 jobs last year was able to create 25 new jobs as a result of the contract award. Not excited yet? Well, D'Ambra also won a 5 million contract with the DOT and expects to hire 30 more employees from that award.

As for the state of Rhode Island as a whole, it expects to create about 4,500 jobs, including direct and indirect jobs. So again, the construction industry is poised to do well as a result of the stimulus but what about other industries that have been hit hard? Is this one of those cases where the market will take care of itself? Not so much. For example, take retail and/or information technology, how does construction project funding cross boundaries over into these industries? From the outside looking in, it appears as though the economic system is inherently disconnected from its parts. Sort of like the "hand" considered part of the body but disconnected from the body doing its own thing. Kind of goes against the concept of the body is a sum of its parts working in unison. Uuuuhhh Oohhhh. Sealed
