As you know with the shortage of jobs and national labor pool at a huge surplus, job seekers are pulling out all the stops to get an interview and ultimately a job. This of course includes social networking where followers and friends tweet jobs and job search advice to pretty much anyone who will listen. Don't be surprised to find out that employers and recruiter also tweet jobs. Best Buy has even got into the game and started asking for advice on job descriptions for Best Buy's job openings. Some are, also, finding that jobs tweeted on Twitter are worth the investment. In short, what is happening is that tweeters are finding fellow tweeters are willing and able to lend a helping hand in terms of contact information for a given job or even better - a job recommendation. This is a big deal! How many times have you heard me rant on and on that social networking is all about tapping into circles that you wouldn't otherwise have exposure to. That means engaging with people you don't know, meeting people you don't know and of course helping those you don't know. It's good Karma for all involved. Undoubtedly, Twitter is leading the way with a social media platform that encourages meeting new people, versus some others that really sort of keep people locked in a box or clique. So tweeting for jobs is showing real promise and certainly seems to be working for some. Perhaps if more people got on-board, the success rate would grow. Besides, if you aren't working and on the job search grind, what do you have to loose? Invest a little time in Twitter listening out for friends and followers job tweets. Don't forget employers and recruiters tweet jobs too! Get out of the box. Make it happen!
