a few thousand job seekers show up for few job

Vicksburg isn't exactly the place you want to be right now - especially if you are looking for a job. With a near 16% unemployment rate, the odds just aren't in favor of the job seeker. Moreover a recent Vicksburg job fair attracted 2,000 or more job seekers whereas the number of available jobs were only 400. Do the math - that's a five to one applicant to job ratio. That doesn't sound too bad huh. Well don't forget about the other applicants from other sources applying for those same 400 jobs. In reality the applicant to job ratio in Vicksburg is more like 8 or 9 to 1. Those are pretty high odds. Furthermore, Vicksburg doesn't have the Big Three to blame for the city's unemployment woes which likely means the current unemployment numbers, for Vicksburg, will stay on the higher side for quite some time. So what do you do? Go west young man as the saying goes. Although these days that saying might replace "west" with south or better yet southeast, which is where a great deal of movement is happening in the job market.
