sky high unemployment in Luna raises stimulus questions

by Blog Boss 12. July 2009 15:33

Think you have it bad with 7,8 or 9 percent unemployment in your area. Well, with a 17% unemployment rate in Luna County, your situation seems like a ride in the park. That's right -  the folks of Luna County, New Mexico with a sky high unemployment rate are wondering just where is the stimulus money going. Who could blame them? Hell, Luna's unemployment rate is higher than the unemployment rate in Detroit...and we all know the mess made in Detroit with the big three automakers (GM and Chrysler in particular). New Mexico officials state the economic stimulus funds are just starting to roll in??? Hummh. The stimulus package went into effect back in February..right? Hummmh. Well better late than never since many are fearing their unemployment benefits will end without the economic funds in place. It's bad enough that there aren't enough jobs to go around but being in limbo with unemployment benefits is worse. Sealed
