goodyear slashes 820 jobs

Here we go again with Ohio in the news. Looks like US tire manufacturer Goodyear is cutting 820 of 1200 jobs. That's the bad news. The good news, if there is such a thing with job cuts, is that those job cuts are at the Goodyear plant in France. So, the cuts obviously have little affect on the livelihood of its workers here in the states. That of course, assumes that most if not all of the workers at the France plant are natives of France versus the US.

On a different note, this job cut announcement just makes you wonder if more Goodyear job cuts are coming here to the US? Why? Well its no secret that Goliath corporations like a Goodyear typically seek out foreign soil to reduce operating costs, typically citing higher US corporate taxes, employee health care costs and employee wages. So if Goodyear is cutting costs at presumed to be cheaper operation locations abroad, its seems fair to say that the same is likely to happen domestically. Of course, that part has not been confirmed but it might be safe to be on alert. Like i said, since Goodyear slashed 820 jobs abroad, the same is likely to follow here in the states. Keep your ears to the ground and your eyes on the blog. Cool
